3D Prints

For several years I have been interested in 3D printing. At first I had only access to a simple printer at school, and an older machine that I invested a lot of time into getting working (see my 3-D printed car project).

I was gifted a more sophisticated 3D printer in 2020, and got to work. I opened up my own estsy store front, and started earning money selling a variety of prints on line:

I’ve been printing a variety of objects, from simple customized door stops and pens, to more sophisticated designs. Here’s a sampling.

I was surprised to learn that there were no realistic models of the Green Bank Telescope (located in my home state of WV). I have sold many of these models at several different scales.

My large scale model of the Green Bank Telescope used to top the tree at the Green Bank Observatory.

This was a challenging project where I made a life-like print of my father playing the violin. I to use special software to scan his head, and then place this onto a body that I then manipulated further. The result was a stunning likeness of the musician.

For my 2021-2022 FTC team, we needed an object on the field that could right itself after being tipped over. My solution was this 3D printed object which was hollow and fitted with weights at the bottom so that it would effectively wobble back upright again.

This is a 3D printed enclosure for a Raspberry Pi that was part of a High Altitude Weather Balloon experiment. The enclosure included special adaptions for the wires and sensors.
