A Few of My Projects
An incomplete listing of my projects, which gets updated as I have time.
StickmEn Game
After building our own video game arcade console, I thought it would be fun to write my own game which could be played on it. This was the impetus for Stickmen, a multi-player platform game, with physics.
Stickmen is on version 3.0, and development is still in progress.
Arcade Game (2022)
Our retro-style Arcade machine was built using a Raspberry Pi, running a custom OS built off Rasbian called RetroPie. The cabinet and controls were designed in CAD by me, and built by myself and my brother. The monitor was donated by a local business (from their deprecated computer parts), and buttons purchased online. I also designed a printed a number of the connections and components to allow the system to work together seamlessly. Finally, the sound is form a modified speaker system we purchased online.
Sand Table
This is a project to create a device that can create sand drawings on a flat surface, using 3D printed parts, powered by an Arduino.
The concept is fairly simple: a circular plate holds a thin layer of sand and a metal ball. Underneath the ball is a magnet which can be moved via stepper motors that are controlled by an Arduino board. The desired effect is to drag the ball across the sand, via the magnet beneath, creating a picture in the sand.
Pottery Wheel
My mom used to do a lot of pottery, so I took advantage of the materials around our house, such as an old lawn mower, a bike, and other spare parts. Applying my welding and electrical skills, I made a functional Potter Wheel.

High Altitude Weather Balloon
In the spring of 2022, I helped with a High Altitude Weather Balloon experiment. The payload of the balloon consisted of various experiments, and a Raspberry Pi to record data and video. I helped with the assembly of the hardware, the creation of a 3-D printed enclosure for the Raspberry Pi and it’s sensors, as well as with the actual deployment of the balloon on launch day.

3-D Designs and Prints
I run my own etsy shop (3DPrintsbyMaxUS) and through that, plus personal interests and projects I have come up with a variety of 3_d printable (and printed) designs.

Weather Project 1.0
The goal of this project was to create and automated weather stations and an automatic plant watering system, from many basic parts, rather then off-the-shelf devices.
3-D Printed Car
This experiment was actually about trying to get an old, out-dated 3d printer to work, and to print small precise prints. The car was simply the output of the project.
Other Projects
Other stuff I’ve had fun creating. More images and descriptions can be found on this page.
